Hot, sweaty and swollen up like a watermelon - the things we do for our kids!
being a lion
We finally made it to the LR Zoo! We all went last year when it was a bit cooler - and this year each time we had been to LR we had other plans, and the one time we wanted to go it was too hot. It was still pretty hot - about 102 - but J loves animals and I think Brad enjoyed it too. I was swollen by about the first 100 meters - and tried to keep up with them but generally just lagged behind - and opted NOT to see the reptiles in favor of sitting under a tree. Had I been behind a cage I would have passed for a exhibit myself. We had a big mid week in LR - catching up with old friends of mine and Brads - eating at some great places and the main purpose of the trip - to see the Wiggles!
My boys - still too cute for their own good.
Take a close look - this is Jackson's first human drawing!!! I was SO excited!!!!!!!! Unfortunately it was on this etch a sketch board so i had to take a photo instead of keeping the real thing. J is 2 years and 8 months old - his person drawing is of his Dad - I asked him what were those things sticking out and he looked at me like i was a retard and said "arms silly" and "fuzzy hair". I may be a little too excited over this milestone - as i am STILL really chuffed that my kid can draw people - well kind of. You do have to use your imagination a bit. He has continued to expand his drawing to pictures of me and "peoples with eyes" as he says. They all pretty much look just like this though.Jackson has found his sense of humor - he will tell you things like "I'm gonna be naked and everyone will see my bum bum" as he turns around to show you his behind. along with...
"Your a goo goo head silly billy" .... and
"I'm a bug - are you going to squish me dead?"
we had Jen and George over last night and Jackson said we should all go to WalMart - Jen told him "But there isn't anywhere to eat dinner at WalMart Jackson" J's retort was.. "Yes... we could eat at the hamburger place in WalMart" yes indeed - trips to Walmart with his Nee Nee often end up with a stop at the hamburger place :)
J is becoming such a grown up kid - he spent 2 nights with his Grandma and Paw Paw sleeping in "his own room" followed by 3 nights at his Nee Nee's without us - and never once cried to be home - or asked after us at all. Brad and I enjoyed the break and sleep ins - while J seemed to enjoy spending time growing up even more. I have to remind myself he is only 2.

I'm impressed with Jackson's drawings, too. That is how Ashlyn still draws people, maybe with a few more details.
And, bless your heart, going to the zoo in 102 temps while very pregnant. Sounds quite miserable. I might have gone into the reptile area, just for some coolness.
