Boston

Last weekend we went into the city to visit with Stacy and her group - she helps organize different activities for a group of young adults with special needs. I now wonder if any of them noticed Brad's shirt? We had a great time playing kick ball - Jackson played right field - and ran around like a crazy boy a lot. We then met a friend of Stacy's friend who has a roof top view - right next to the state house - like r i g h t next to it. I left the camera in the pram - and kicked myself the whole time we had the amazing view over the common and river and pretty much the entire city of Boston. Right next to where we were playing kick ball a parade - or should i say protest - took place. We were all wondering what was with the ever increasing number of police on horse back - then we saw this....

Why indeed?

leaves trees and more leaves

we made a mad dash for New Hampshire on Sunday after getting 4 new tires on the car - I envisioned stunning backdrops of red leaves - however we didn't leave until like 12 noon - too late for a day trip but we were desperate as this was our last change to drive out their before we leave for AR late next week. So.... we didn't stop for many photo opportunities - i kept saying "lets stop here" and well - we kept driving - it was a stunning drive and we enjoyed a great dinner afterwards. We did stop for an hour to let J run around - and i managed to get a few photos - but this was in the far north of NH so the peak leaves had already been and gone.

way too much light - but they were having a ball in the dead leaves!

Pumkins pumkins and MORE pumkins!

eating ice cream after pumkin picking - all these photos are pretty much not in any order.

It was nearing the end of the pumkin patch so things were a bit - well - dead - but it was still heaps of fun

Jackson would NOT let go of his pumkin for the rest of the trip - and will not put in on the front step - it stays in his sight and every now and again he pretends to eat it.

THIS was THE MOST FUN Jackson has had in his car seat - he recieved Wiggles items from Lollie - THANKS! Now they go everywhere with him - he loves his wiggles library bag and new wiggles book too - we are sick of saying "Wake up Jeff!" and yes - we even kept the wiggles shipping padded bag - and cut out the packaging from the toys and put it in a photo frame so now he has a photo of his "friends" in his room. We are slightly obsessed with the wiggles in this house - Anthony is my favorite.
hmmmm..... not an orange Jackson

again.... not an orange boy.
It is NOT an orange J!

Fall Fun

did i mention our little family loves Autumn? On the first day of fall we went to a corn festival - and yesterday we went to a small pumkin field and hoped on our second hay ride for the year. The place was small, yet perfect - no crowds, just a few other kids and tag along adults - we stayed for hours watching the animals graze and eating home made ice cream on the lush grass. The weather is cooling off slightly, which made for nice day trips.

I sometimes turn off the automatic function on the camera - and - like Angie it is hit or miss - sometimes the shutter speed is too slow?fuzzy pictures - or their is too much light?we look like we were just beamed down from mars - I am trying to get better at working this camera.

Hay ride #1
HOLY SHIT - When did my 23 month old turn into Elmo? Thanks Nee Nee :)
J was having a big time in his new elmo get up - and throwing a ball - some past-times are still as much fun as they were a hundred years ago. Jackson and our neighbour Alexis played with this ball for ages - laughing every time.
It has been two weeks since elmo came to our house - now J asks to have his elmo on - and generally just smiles and walks around in elmo. I am not going to be able to get him to be a bee for halloween am I?

Visitors - Paw Paw and Grandma

We had Paw Paw and Grandma visit from AR to our current living arrangement in Boston. We had a great action packed few days. Our visit to North End the Italian district was stunning, and I was almost overwhelmed by the selection of pastries on Main St at Mikes - while the JFK Museum was probably the best dedicated museum to a person i have ever seen in my life! It was stunning - and memorable. I hadn't thought to visit it yet as I thought it would be semi boring and expensive - it was neither and am kicking myself I hadn't been sooner. Looks like we will be heading to AR in the next month - and just as the leaves are changing for fall. We hope to take a trip into New Hampshire for some photo ops before leaving, and I am trying to get my fill of the local beach - and have come down with an awful cold as a result. Jackson is fine despite the fact he is the one with feet and hands in the water - and looking like a drowned rat by the time we head home each morning.

Autumn is my all time favorite season - in both the North and South Hemispheres I look forward to the change in weather combined with the change in food - I like to eat fresh local produce and fall brings in pumpkin, which is just about the most versatile vege their is. Americans don't eat pumpkin soup - crazy - that is THE BEST. My aunt Rhonda makes about the best you'll ever get. Also Autumn in the America's is SO beautiful! We celebrated the first day of Fall with a trip to a local Corn Festival - yes their was some corn and we have photos of Jackson prending to be a corn on the cob - we went on my and Jackson's first real Hay ride in an old hay truck - both of us loved it - and just generally had a great outdoors day.

Jackson has really started to act like a big boy now - and it amazes me - he asks us questions and expects a response example:

"What you doing mamma?"
"What's that??" (for any noise that he hears)
"Where are you Daddy?"
"Mamma - eat the table peeasse" (eat at the table please)

In truley amazing news today - while in the mall hunting for bargins J is pulling at his jeans and when I ask him if he needs the potty he says "Yesss, need toilet" (He prefers to call it a toilet - so do i) and i kid you not the kid did a poop in the public restroom! Not a lot of poop - there was more to come in his nappy - but he really wanted to use the public loo - I am sure this is because EVERY time i go to a mall i need to pee or poo - usually after the coffee I like to get while wandering - of course J is right with me so he talks to my pee/ poop and says bye bye and flushes for me. This is way to much information if you have just popped into lurk and check out - but I thought I'd share this milestone with family and friends - my kid used the toilet of his own request at 22 months old.

Well the leftovers are reheated by lovely husband - so it is time to eat - and i can hear Jackson saying beans - dip and one water - and chicken - and just then WOW -he likes to say WOW for pretty much any type of food he has - he loves his food.
bye for now - more pictures to come
