What a week

Too cool for school!
What a week. It was a busy and sad one all round for our little family. Jackson decided he did not want to sleep during the night - untill we figured out he needed more food - which we thought impossible. I had a busy week at work meeting with the State Reps on the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, where as Brad was busy getting the car fixed, which meant he and Jackson had to travel on the bus to Mahen's - our pram and carrier are in the car, which is still in the shop - We did not plan very well we know this. On a very sad note my Aunty Carmel, who was at my wedding for those who remember, has suffered a severe brain heamorage, mum flew to Melbourne to be with her. Thankfully mum is surrounded by her other sisters and family during this especially difficult time. Aunty Carmel is still in ICU and after surgery their has been no change. My Aunty Carmel is a battler with a kind and generous heart, she knitted a beautiful christening blanket for Jackson which I hope she gets to see him in. I believe she lost her own son to cot death many years ago, and has a soft spot for our beautiful little boy.Jackson recieved a beautiful present - it was addressed to Angus - his prefered name by many, however we do not know who it is from - this sounds absured I know however we were so excited to recieve a package we forgot to take in who it was from. There was no note inside to indicate who it was from - so who ever sent this amazing hand sewn quilt please let us know! Angus LOVES the bright colours and the black and white eggs keep him mesmerized - it has become his special play blankie - as you can see with all the toys!

After a long week Jackson had had it! This picture was taken after being collected on Friday from Mahen's, a long wait for a bus and the ride home, he was alsleep on Brad before he even made it up the stairs- Mahen almost cried when I left with Jackson for the weekend as she was going to "miss little Jackie soooo much" she also invited him to their new year on Wednesday if it would be a problem for us to care for him that day - i believe Mahen loves Jackson just as if he were one of her own which is so lovely for him to be surrounded by family, I call Mahen's boys Jackson's brothers as he follows them about with his big eyes when ever they are in the room!

Our week overview

This was taken after my first day at work - I am very happy to be seeing my boy again! Mahin takes wonderful care of Jackson and is a true blessing to our family.
I ended my week on a night out with some friends at a gala fundraising dinner for the Jim Bacon Foundation (Late Premier of TAS who passed away from Cancer).
When the table is laid out with more classes than you know what to do with and more ordourves than you've ever seen you know your in for a fantastic night. Which it was!
Just thought I'd throw in a picture of our beautiful boy when he was just a few days old. I can't believe how fast the time has flown! I missed him a lot during my first week at work, however only had one meltdown on the Thursday evening when I was really missing him. We drop him off at 8 am, get to work by 8 40, leave work around 5 30 then pick him up just before 6. By the time we get home and have him feed and bathed, he is ready for bed. Then sleeps untill 7 in the morning. so we don't see him much except on the weekend. Which we are making the most of spending every second together! The last two nights he has woken during the night and eaten a whole bottle! We think he is having yet another growth spurt - as he usually sleeps from around 7 at night till 7 in the morning. We dropped the late evening feed as we were finding him too drowzy and difficult to wake. Will post some more pictures this arvo - we are headed out for a drive as it is a beautiful day again here today. We had some beautiful professional pictures taken of Jackson, Brad and myself which arrived this week. They are being posted out to family next week so be on the lookout! I didn't like any with me of course, but the ones of Brad and Jack are just adorable!!

Baking and Brown shirts

Just wanted to let everyone know I just took a perfect banana cake and apple sauce and cinnamon muffins out the oven - so my last cooking attempt can be forgotten. Also a note to Allen - Yes brad STILL wears those army issue brown shirts! (Is he subcounciously trying to tell us something?) I am trying to phase them out in our home too, without success. He will wear them till the day he can no longer dress himself I'm sure. If that day comes I will dress him in pink polka dots just to spite him (what a loving wife i am).

Beach moments

Today is Sunday and we took a short trip to 7 mile beach which we often do. A blustery day but lovely none the less. We walked for just over and hour up and down, Brad hates the beach - but because he loves me he drives me out there for me to revive for the start of the working week. On the way home I like to lay back close my eyes and day dream, trying not to fall asleep as the hum of the Merc lulls even the most alert passenger into a coma. We stopped by some friends who we haven't seen in forever, and discovered we both had the very similar birthing stories. So spent much of the visit discussing the traumatic event. Both agree that one child is probably all we need. Brad and I had been having this same discussion on our walk - how many children to have. Should we be socially responsible and have only one? As we are pretty happy with Jackson we think this may be a good choice, however then he would be an only child - kind of - as we have close friends with or having children he will always be surrounded by other kids. Pre Jackson, Brad and I had wanted to pop them out one after the other, however with both of us taking on new jobs, we just don't have the time or even the desire right now to have another baby. I'm sure when you do have another child you wonder how you ever lived without them, just as you wonder how you ever lived with just the two of you before you became 3. Do you ever know how many children you should have? Brad and I really like our own company, we enjoy a quiet life. Also with more children we may not be able to provide for them all equally. One of us would have to stay home with the children if we have another soon, but if we wait 4 years we can still both continue to work to provide a home. One of us would definitely have to stay home if we have 3. Right now we feel so blessed to have a healthy happy baby boy, and would like it to stay just the way it is ....... for now.

First time on a swing - kodak moment. He was laughing but I couldn't manage to snap a photo quick enough to capture the excitement of it all.

Mum time

Giving mum some sugar.
Well I can see that by the photos I post you may all think that I am not around much - but I am most often behind the camera, not infront of it. i spend a lot of time with Jackson each day, and my favorite time is shortly after a feed when he is a bubbling babbling baby! He is also a boy of many talents, the most recent of which is couch scratching - when I hold him facing the back of the couch he likes to scratch the couch with his fingers as it makes a loud noise, he also likes to do the same in the Merc and was found scratching the seats which are made of fake leather and didn't make a fun sound so he soon quit.
A snap of Brads dream room- as you can see Robots/Rockets and space rule this room. (NASA be on the look out for Jackson in about 20 years time!)
Thanks Grandma Harris (Vicki)! Jackson is enjoying streaching out in just one of his many new outfits - I didn't think any would quite fit just yet - but I underestimated the size of my boy yet again! Some of the clothes he has a bit of room to grow into them which is great considering he seems to be growing so fast.

Jackson's room again- Vicki supplied the pictures and curtain material - you can't quiet see but the bottom row pics are of robots. The colourful mobile is from surrogate parents Tim and Caz.
This is were our boy sleeps - surrounded by rockets, robots and a beautifully soft blankie from Paw Paw
Chillin out at home. I love my two boys so much! I have a wonderful sexy husband - can I say that here? and a wonderfully cheeky little boy who I adore. How lucky can one woman be!

Little Razorback

Yo Bro whats up?

GO TEAM!

Well I had the worst morning yesterday - it was raining, almost had an accident in the car (not my fault), went to new place of employment with jackson - he was not in the best of moods all morning - anyways - it got better when I went to visit my friend Alicia and her boys and girl - we had a great lunch and i got to vent. She was also kind enough to donate a heap of great clothes and even some blunstone boots to the "Growing too fast too keep up" Jackson fund. I also spent all afternoon a couple of days ago baking - everything was a disaster - forgot to add butter to the banana bread - overcooked the brownies - and i wont even go into the carrot cake suffice to say that both Brad and I needed a lie down and some eno (stomach settler) after a small bite. It was a recipie I got from mum - who had not actually cooked it - and it called for a can of tomato soup - now any normal person would have said "thats a bit strange - I'll look for another recipie" but not me - I used the can of tomato soup. I also fed Jackson rice cereal last week - he ate it off the spoon - and settled much better. However he then got constipated - so I quit giving him cereal and have decided to hold off as long as I can - I think he had a growth spurt as he ate it with gusto.

hmmm, what else can I talk about - I start my new job next week which should be interesting. I have no clothes that I fit into so had to buy a few new skirts and tops to make do untill I loose some of this weight. Brad and I have been walking in the afternoons if it is not raining - so we have only been once this week - not very productive I know but a start at least! I really have not much to tell the world today.

Nice Days

We headed down to Bellrieve warf again for some Jazz - it was hot but Brad and I really enjoyed getting out and relaxing - we also met up with some friends for a quick drink which was nice too.
Stopping to go grocery shopping on the way back - Brad and Jackson enjoyed spending some quality time together! As you can see by the picture, Jackson is too small to really face out this way - but when we put him facing in he just about causes himself and injury trying to turn around and see what is going on around him - so we carry him around like this and he drools all over the front of the carrier - (I promice to wash it before we give it back Angie!)
